Andrew Yang and Council Committee on Aging Chair Margaret Chin Call for Immediate Reopening of Senior Centers at Manhattan Press Conference

**RELEASE** May 26th, 2021

Yang & Chin Release Comprehensive Platform to Support NYC Seniors Focused on Housing, Community Programming, Transportation, Access to Technology, & Workplace Protections

New York, NY Video available HERE. Today, mayoral candidate Andrew Yang joined endorser and Council Aging Committee Chair Margaret Chin (on her birthday!) to call for the immediate reopening of senior centers citywide as vaccination rates among New York’s seniors rise and the city’s reopening continues. The pair, alongside Council candidate Gigi Li, also released a comprehensive platform to support New York’s senior population.

Said Andrew Yang, “There are 1.1 million seniors in New York City – it’s long past time that senior centers around the city reopen so that senior citizens can gather and socialize after a year of isolation. We can’t leave seniors behind as we open our city and kick-start our recovery.”

Said Chair of the Council Committee on Aging, Margaret Chin, “I am proud to support Andrew’s comprehensive plan to support our seniors and am thankful for his leadership in centering this overlooked community during his mayoral campaign.”
